Exploring Atlanta Without A Car
Atlanta has a reputation as a car-centric city — but visitors staying downtown or Midtown can access most major attractions without a car.
MARTA Rail
MARTA's rail system connects Hartsfield-Jackson Airport directly to downtown ($2.50 each way). Key stops:
- Airport → Five Points — Central downtown, Centennial Park cluster
- Five Points → King Memorial — Sweet Auburn, MLK sites
- Five Points → Midtown — Piedmont Park, High Museum, Fox Theatre
- Midtown → Buckhead — Atlanta History Center, LEGOLAND
The BeltLine
The 22-mile BeltLine trail connects Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, Midtown, West End, and more. Walk or rent a bike from one of several stations along the route.
Rideshare & Walking
Uber and Lyft are widely available. Downtown's top attractions are clustered within a 15-minute walk of each other.
Tips
- Get a Breeze card (MARTA reloadable card) at the airport station.
- Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market, and the BeltLine are all car-free friendly.
- Most major hotels are within walking distance of MARTA stations.
